Modus Motorsport History

Modus Motorsport was established in 1997 by David and Bob Wilson who had been racing for a number of years under the Team Modus banner. Bob had been involved in karting in the 1960's with karts such as a Peel Villiers and then a Dale Shadow space frame kart, all very low key at the time.

Dave took an interest in karting in the 80's and, before long, both were racing eventually in the same class - 100 National.  Dave and Bob being Club Champions at 3 Sisters and both winning the prestigious MBKC Gold Cup. In recent years Modus have moved to new premises in Elles mere Port only 3 minutes from the Hooton Park circuir which was designed and built by Bob.

How it all Began

David's dad, Bob, started karting in 1962 and the photograph shows him at Larkhall circuit (Summerless Raceway) trying to restart his manx Kart (manufactured in the Isle of Man) with the help of his mother.

Below shows various images of the kart with Bob at speed at a local dirt track.

Bob competed at Larkhall in the early days when karting was not regulated.  shown below, a couple of photograps of the Larkhall circuit which is still part of the current layout.  These photographs show the karts approaching the existing hairpin.

The final photograph shoes Bob with his Dale Shadow chassis, a very collectable kart in today's world.
